| Nursing Research and Scholarship | | | The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) strongly supports nursing research and the training of nurse researchers across Canada. CASN works to encourage and improve the quality of nursing research, as well as to promote research findings and support Canada’s current and upcoming nursing research leaders.
Nursing research involves clinical care in a variety of settings including the community and home, in addition to more traditional healthcare sites. It can also focus outside of hands-on care and look at the best ways to deliver nursing services within the healthcare system to the people who need them, and the best way to deliver nursing education. CASN’s member schools are involved in comprehensive nursing research training and career development programs to prepare nurses with the skills they need to do research.
In the CASN offices, there are several initiatives that support Canada’s nursing research, including:
Databases
Commissioned research projects
Promotion of funding opportunities for nursing researchers
Nursing research events.
