| Award for Excellence in Nursing Education - Non-Tenure | | | Award for Excellence in Nursing Education - Non-Tenure 2010 Darlene Scott RN, has been a nursing faculty member of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science (SIAST) community for 29 years. During that time, she has given freely of her own time on a number of different committees and initiatives. Most recently, Darlene is a member of the committee developing new curriculum for the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing Program. She is a respected representative for faculty because of her expertise and previous experience developing the current Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan curriculum. Darlene’s independent and collaborative scholarly work has contributed to knowledge about mental health, gerontology, patient safety and most profoundly interprofessional education (IPE), thus expanding SIAST’s professional network and increasing the profile of the SIAST Nursing Division locally, nationally, and internationally. She has been a pioneer and continues to be an enduring champion in the exploration of non traditional settings and academic partners to maximize relevant student learning opportunities. In creating unique learning situation, Darlene has also modeled progressive teaching strategies for novice and expert faculty, advancing the education process and expanding the teaching experience for other faculty. As expert practitioner, mentor to faculty, coordinator for students, curriculum writer, and interprofessional team developer, Darlene Scott is a most worthy recipient. | | |
