  • To look for links and connections that would build our capacity to provide relevant information about research and scholarly activities in nursing in Canada
  • To maintain and monitor policies to guide access to and dissemination of CASN database content and survey results with members of the nursing community, government agencies, researchers, media, public, etc. (SD-1.5.5), and review costs annually.
  • To consult with CASN members and end users on the design, re-design, refinement, and/or currency of CASN databases and policies to better meet and reflect the needs of CASN members and other end users.
  • To ensure survey schedules, processes, tools and methodologies support the timely collection of data while respecting the time demands of CASN members.
  • To disseminate database information and survey results to members on a priority basis.
  • To determine and recommend to the Board, annual and ad hoc data collections.
  • To provide advice as required on CASN’s response to national proposals relating to or with the potential to affect CASN’s mission. (SD-1.1, 1.3)
  • To support the work of CASN Standing Committees and Task Forces (SD-1.3), and oversee the surveying of CASN members by committees and taskforces to ensure members are not overburdened with requests and overlapping or duplicate questions.
  • To assist in raising the profile of CASN database collections among CASN members and with potential partners. (SD-1.1)
  • To report to the Board of Directors and Council meeting annually.

This committee will take into consideration the following operating principles:

  • CASN has access to the technical infrastructure needed to support the various data sets, with adequate internal and/or external funding.
  • Policies will be developed within a framework that addresses CASN’S investment and ensures cost recovery. Costs will be reviewed annually.
