| Task Force on Inter-professional Education | | | Mandate To provide advice and recommendations regarding strategic directions on how CASN can demonstrate leadership in creating a role for nursing education within the context of inter-professional education.
Terms of Reference To work collaboratively with other nursing organizations and health professionals to establish a role for nursing in the current initiatives for inter-professional/multi-disciplinary education. This will necessitate being attentive to different models of education that may be found within and without a baccalaureate context. (SD - 2.4.1). To develop a position statement on inter-professional education. To identify inter-professional initiatives, either currently in place or planned for implementation, in CASN member schools. Ensure regular communication between the Chair of this Task Force and the Chair of the Standing Committee on Education, through the CASN National Office staff. To report to the Board of Directors annually.
Term of Office and Membership The term of office will be at the discretion of the CASN Executive Committee.
Membership The voting members of the Committee are: The Chair of the Task Force will be selected from among the membership. CASN members with expertise in inter-professional education representing the Atlantic, Western, Ontario, and Quebec regions (2 per region). Strategic advice may be solicited from the following: Office of Nursing Policy (ONP), Health Council, CNA, Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC), Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work (CASSW), Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), Dieticians and Nutritionists of Canada, Canadian Kinesiology Association, Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists, etc. A member of the CASN Board of Directors will be appointed to serve as a communication linkage between the Task Force and the Board of Directors. Meetings The Task Force will normally meet by teleconference, a minimum of twice a year and at other times, at the call of the Chair, to fulfill its mandate. Support for meetings and the work of the Task Force will be provided by an assigned National Office Staff member.
