What does an Accreditation Review cost?

NB: FEES NOTED ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOLLOWING CASN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND CASN COUNCIL REVIEW

Introduction

The CASN Accreditation Bureau’s assessment of an accreditation review application includes an assessment of the fees to be charged based on an examination of the information submitted by the school in relation to the CASN Accreditation Fee Schedule.  The Accreditation Bureau provides a detailed rationale for the accreditation fees charged. If dissatisfied with the fee assessment, the school of nursing may appeal it by presenting their reasons for re-assessment to the Accreditation Bureau. If the school and the Accreditation Bureau cannot reach consensus on the fee assessment, the CASN Executive Committee will determine what accreditation fees will be charged to the School.

          Adjustments to Accreditation Fees

In order to be eligible for an adjustment to accreditation fees, schools of nursing in collaborative partnerships that foresee staggered timing for their accreditation reviews must notify the CASN Accreditation Bureau in writing, and provide the year when each partner will have a graduating class and the anticipated date for each partner’s accreditation review. Under certain circumstances in the case of staggered reviews, the CASN Accreditation Bureau may modify how the fee schedule is applied. Such accreditation fee adjustments, however, cannot be made in the first accreditation review of a collaborative partnership. The fee adjustment below may be applied to accreditation reviews scheduled within a two year period subsequent to the first accreditation review of a collaborative partnership program subject to the approval of the CASN Accreditation Bureau.

In order to act in a fair and consistent manner, the CASN Accreditation Bureau references decisions made in previous cases where fee adjustments were granted.

Criteria for Adjustment to Accreditation Fees

Within the collaboration, one collaborative partner has paid the full accreditation fee of $7000.00; and, Accreditation reviews are staggered over a maximum two year period.

          Please note the following:

Accreditation fees are subject to change, and schools of nursing will be notified of current fees prior to commencement of accreditation process. An educational unit must be a member in good standing of CASN and all fees must be paid in full in order to receive an accreditation decision and to maintain accredited status

The cost for an international accreditation project will defer from the fees explained here and will be assigned at the discretion of the CASN National Office.
