| CNA call for information | | | Dear Colleagues, I am working with the history team at the University of Ottawa to tie up some historical details as we move toward a final draft of the CNA centennial history book. In that regard I need your assistance with a few small details please. I tried to find these on your various web sites so as not to bother you, but I am struggling to find them. I do have a lot of this information, as gleaned from research including historical details recorded in The Canadian Nurse. But I want to be sure of things from direct sources where possible.
What I would like to know is the following, if you can find it without a major search - What was the date the school/faculty of nursing first was established at your organization?
- What was the full/proper title of the school at that time and what is it now (if different)?
- Who was the first director/dean/leader of your first program?
- What was the type of program and credential offered (e.g. a two-year program leading to a diploma in nursing)?
- Any “firsts” or other milestones you would like recorded for posterity (e.g. we offered the first degree program in our province).
These details are for a “milestones” chart so we are looking for just “quick hits” kinds of details as I’ve listed here, not a long narrative. If more is to be written about a program, that will go into narrative part of the book and will be handled differently. We are trying to be broadly inclusive here in recording our shared history, so we hope to hear from you. Thanks so much in advance. I am working on this project at home right now, so may I ask you to please respond to my home email: mountainmike@ripnet.com. If you need to reach me to speak verbally, my home line is 613 989-1315. My CNA email remains the same if you need it: mvilleneuve@cna-aiic.ca. Thank you all again, will be good to hear from you. Mike Villeneuve Scholar in residence Canadian Nurses Association | | |
